Newspaper Article 1865

Four days ago, this era of violence and division in our country ended. By this, I am referring to the dreadful war that has been raging for four years. This ending came after the battle of Saylor's Creek when General Robert E. Lee was out of options and was outnumbered. After this last battle, a meeting was called between General Garant and defeated General Lee. The purpose of this meeting was to agree on the terms of surrender. The meeting took place in the house of Wilmore McLean, ironically the man who hosted General P.G.T Beauregard and his men in the battle of Bull Run. However, after agreeing to give up their guns, supplies, and battle flags, the Confederacy withdraws with the promise not to fight and fall under the Unions laws and rules. But for now, 1865 is the year our country has fallen to peace until the next war breaks out and our country is set aflame with violence once again.
